On the cover: Ganymede, a black basalt figure made by Wedgwood and
Bentley in 1774-5 for the prince of Anhalt-Dessau. This statue and more
than one hundred other pieces the prince ordered from Wedgwood remain
intact at Wrlitz Castle. The reemergence of Wrlitz is the most exciting
