Conservation and Restoration of Ceramics: Answers to Some often Asked Questions

Speaker: Echo Evetts
Conservator, Echo Evetts Ceramics Restoration, Westport Connecticut.

In this lecture conservator Echo Evetts will pose and answer often asked questions regarding ceramics conservation and restoration. Topics to be examines will include how repairs have changed over the years; to treat or not to treat, and how those decisions are made; and what can be achieved using one method over another. Also discussed will be the identification of the type of ware to be repaired; what, when and how was it made. Under what conditions will the piece needing repair be displayed or used? Has it been treated in the past and if so, how does one incorporate those repairs into the latest restoration? The lecture will be illustrated with before, during and after images.
