Invitation to a Wedgwood Society of New York Special Lecture
Lecture Topic: The Harry Sheldon Collection of Wedgwood: A Life's work.
Speaker: Mr. John Sandon, Associate Director Phillips International Auctioneers & Valuers.
Background: Harry Sheldon bought his first piece of Wedgwood in 1929 at age fourteen. He was employed by the Wedgwood company from that time until the 1950's. During this time he became close friends with many of the key people at the factory. Both Bert Bently and Harry Bernard were among his close friends. Harry Sheldon remained a collector of Wedgwood right up until his death two years ago.
Mr. Sandon will present a slide presentation and discussion on the life and collection of Mr. Harry Sheldon. Many rare and unusual pieces, documents, and Wedgwood related items will be illustrated. The collection of over 900 lots will be sold by Phillips in the London salesrooms the following month. This is a rare opportunity to explore a collection which is truly "A Life's Work."

Date: Wednesday September 23, 1998 Time: 8:00 PM Lecture
The WSNY would like to express its thanks to Phillips and Mr. John Sandon for sponsoring this event.
