The Noted Pate-sur- Pate artist Marc Louis Solon
Speaker: Bernard Bumpus
Bernard Bumpus has been a lifelong scholar of English ceramics, with an emphasis on wares produced between the Great Exhibition of 1851 and World War II. He has a special interest in the influence of English design abroad, the Rhead family of English and American potters about whom he curated a touring exhibition Rhead Artists and Potters, 1870-1950, and, of course, Pte-sur-Pte.
Bernard's many contributions to the ceramic literature include a book on Charlotte Rhead, articles in the Antique Collector, The Journal of the Decorative Arts Society, The Arts and Crafts Quarterly, Ars Ceramica, and the informative and beautifully illustrated Pate-sur-Pate The Art of Ceramic Relief Decoration, 1849-1992. Works in progress include an upcoming article for Ars Ceramica, as well as, a monograph on Mark Louis Solon.
